Dear New Life Church, (message from September 1, 2021)
We are living in a very unique but important moment. The situation around COVID-19 is constantly unfolding in the GTA, and the NewLife staff have been monitoring and considering all the information surrounding the recent outbreak at our church. Tuesday evening, I met with Board and Leadership team of New Life Church and we want to do our part in stopping the transmission of this virus and protect those populations within our church and city who are most vulnerable to its effects.
This virus does not discriminate who it infects, but it is especially severe to our aging, and those with heart, lung, and immune conditions. As a multi-generational congregation, our church has many who would fall into these categories. It is for this reason that the Board & Leadership Team and I have decided to continue our shutdown of church gatherings until Friday October 1st.
While not mandated to stay closed, we chose to do so out of an abundance of caution. During this shutdown period we will continue to review and update our safety measures and cleaning protocols to ensure our church remains a place of safety and comfort, for all church members and those in our community.
We will continue to engage our Congregation in the coming weeks through online services, virtual prayer meetings as well as purposeful communication. Our office will be open during this time to provide care and support for all of you, whether you need help listening to our online services, prayer for your health, or just a phone call to know you’re not alone.
Let us be reminded of this blessing from Paul’s letter to the Philippians:
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:4-7)
See you online!
