The Battle Belongs To The Lord

Part 2

Wednesday March 25th, 2020

As we continue to bring the COVID-19 pandemic before the Lord, I want to remind you that despite how things look, our God is able. This pandemic may seem big to us, but it is a small matter for the Lord. Let us trust that His purpose is being served and He is working it out for our good.

Today, I want to continue with the story of King Jehoshaphat. His prayer and the result of his prayer are powerful reminders that an overwhelming situation in God’s hands leads to victory.

King Jehoshaphat prayed, “Oh Lord… whenever we are faced with any calamity such as war, or plague… we can come to stand in Your presence… where Your name is honoured. We can cry out to you to save us, and you will hear us and rescue us” (v6).

Today I want us, like King Jehoshaphat, to cry out to God for an end to this COVID- 19 pandemic. God will certainly hear us and rescue us. Like King Jehoshaphat, let us pray, “ O our God, won’t you stop [it]? We are powerless against this mighty army that is about to attack us. We do not know what to do, but we are looking to you for help” (v9). We can pray, Lord this virus is ruining lives, families, the economy and we do not know what to do. But our eyes are upon You o Lord, we are looking to You for help!

I am believing that like God did for the army of Judah then, God will lead us into victory. This was God’s answer: “Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s (v15).

Let our response to God’s promise be like Jehoshaphat’s. Let’s bow in worship before the Lord God Almighty (v18). Pray that God will give us a breakthrough. That we will be a blessing to our neighbours and that we can shine as the true church of the Living God. Let’s pray that the Lord will give wisdom and understanding to the leaders of our nation, and the nations of the world.

God will have the victory!
