God’s Will for Our Lives

Part 3

Wednesday August 21st, 2019
Read: 1 Peter 4:2

God cares about the choices we make in our lives and He has specific plans for us. In Him, we’re predestined according to these plans, so that we might be for the praise of His glory (Eph 1:11- 12). God is committed to guiding us more than we realize. He wants us to know His character and His ways. Let’s continue to discover God’s will for us as His children, and learn more truths about Him.

(1) It is God’s will that we follow His Spirit rather than our selfish desires.
In life, we must choose to go in one of two directions: lust of men, or the will of God. If we choose to ignore Jesus and continue living to fulfill the lusts of our sinful nature, we will be marked by confusion, disappointment, heartache, and ultimately destruction. Those who don’t know Christ make choices based on what feels good. As Christians, we are called to make our choices based on the truth of God’s Word.

(2) It is God’s will that we defend the rights of the poor.
We live in a world that is filled with injustice and inequality. We must never be involved with the exploitation of those who are defenseless and poor. We are commanded to defend the rights of the poor. Proverbs 31:9 says, “Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”

God has called us to live lives of truth and justice, so we can be for the praise of His glory and show His love to others.
