God’s Will for Our Lives

Part 4

August 28th, 2019
Read: Ephesians 2:10

Over the past three weeks, we have looked at principles in God’s Word that reveal His will for our lives. It is in doing God’s will that we reach our destiny. God wants us to do His will, which we accomplish by understanding and obeying His desires and instructions. Today, ask The Spirit for the humility to obey His commands, so that you can live out the destiny God has for you.

(1) It is God’s will for us to love and forgive those who offend us.
There’s probably no area of life where it is more difficult to obey Biblical truth than in broken and challenging relationships. We are taught in the Bible to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. We are to choose to love the person we are offended by, with God’s love, as an act of obedience and faith.

(2) It is God’s will that we do good works in Christ.
Faith is like the roots of a tree, and the works are the fruit. We don’t judge a tree by digging it up, but we instead examine its fruit. Likewise, if there are no good works visible in our lives, then our faith is poor. Seek opportunities to serve others. Do good work in Jesus’ name.

(3) It is God’s will that we grow spiritually.
We are not called to accept Jesus and then wait for Heaven. We are to make every effort to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. God does not want us to be spiritually immature and unable to sustain the new life He has given us. If we want to be used of God and the purpose He has for our lives, we must grow spiritually.

We discover God’s will for us when we discover the character and truth that God has called us to. Open yourself to His will and see all that He has for you.
