Overcoming Adversity Through Faith
Date: October 17th, 2018
Read: 2 Corinthians 4:8-18
Paul was struck down but not struck out! How did Paul handle his problems? “I believed; therefore I have spoken” (v. 13). The spirit of faith kept Paul going; not the things he felt or experienced or saw in the natural realm. The spirit of faith caused Paul to speak and keep his eyes on the things that aren’t seen, for the things that are seen (that we go through) are temporary (v.18). Paul encouraged Timothy to ‘be watchful in all things, endure afflictions… fulfill your ministry.’ (2 Timothy 4:5).
Afflictions are the pressures and challenges of life, the relationship struggles, the financial pressures, and other challenges that come at us as we walk our destiny path. Have faith. Accept bravely every hardship. You can handle people talking behind your back. You can take a setback at work without falling into self-pity. You can lose a loved one without losing your mind. Accept the challenges and problems and obstacles that go along with building the life God has called you to. If you want it “easy” then just get a job, make a living, pay the bills, and pray that Jesus returns quickly. But if you want to know your destiny, then get ready for the most exciting adventure that you could ever experience!
Don’t quit! You will overcome; so start walking by faith.
